The rehabilitation of the 33kV overhead power line serving communities from Ibeju to Okegun Madagbayun has officially entered its final phase, marking a significant milestone in the effort to restore stable electricity supply to 10 affected communities in Ibeju-Lekki.

The strategic project is being executed by the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government under the leadership of Chairman Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, in collaboration with Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKDC).

Lagostrend gathered that contractors are currently working across Okegun Madagbayun, Okegun School, and Okegun Odofin, completing the final installations and technical alignments required to ensure safe and reliable electricity distribution. The rehabilitation project spans approximately five kilometres along the Ibeju–Okegun corridor.

Chairman Olowa had earlier assured residents that the power restoration initiative would be fast-tracked and closely supervised to prevent unnecessary delays. The council reaffirmed that the intervention is part of its broader commitment to delivering people-oriented infrastructure projects aimed at improving living standards across the local government area.

According to local officials, the concluding phase includes reinforcement of critical sections of the overhead line, comprehensive system integrity checks, and coordinated integration with EKDC’s distribution network to guarantee stable supply upon energisation.

Upon completion, electricity will be fully restored to the 10 communities and surrounding areas, bringing long-awaited relief to households, boosting small and medium-scale enterprises, and strengthening economic and social activities within the axis.

The collaboration between the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and EKDC reflects a unified and proactive approach to addressing longstanding power supply challenges and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.

Lagostrend will continue to monitor progress and provide timely updates as the project reaches full completion and electricity is officially restored.
