  • Olowa Swears In Supervisors, Special Advisers to Strengthen Governance in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government

    The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has officially sworn in members of his Executive Cabinet, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance, deepening institutional capacity, and accelerating development across the council area.

    The swearing-in ceremony, held at the council secretariat, marked another significant step in the Chairman’s effort to reinforce the administrative structure of the Local Government and ensure effective implementation of policies and development programmes.

    Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Olowa described Ibeju-Lekki as a frontline Local Government whose developmental strides continue to set the pace for others. He noted that the inauguration of the cabinet members was not merely the filling of political offices but a deliberate move to strengthen the institutional framework through which leadership decisions are translated into impactful actions for the benefit of residents.

    Prior to the inauguration, the 10th Legislative Council, led by the Leader, Hon. Olayinka Mojeed Oluwafemi, conducted a comprehensive screening of all nominees presented by the Chairman. The Council commended the Executive Chairman for nominating competent and capable individuals and unanimously approved all the nominees to serve as Supervisors and Special Advisers.

    In his keynote address, Hon. Olowa emphasized that governance is defined by the vision of its leaders and sustained by strong institutions and dedicated public servants. He stressed that within the Lagos State Local Government administrative framework, Supervisors and Special Advisers play critical roles in policy coordination, departmental oversight, and ensuring the effective delivery of government programmes and priorities.

    He further highlighted the strategic importance of Ibeju-Lekki in the economic transformation of Lagos State, particularly with the rapid expansion of economic activities along the Lekki corridor, increasing infrastructure investments, and the emergence of new communities. According to him, the pace of development in the area requires committed leadership and a responsive governance structure capable of meeting the rising expectations of the people.

    The Chairman therefore charged the newly sworn-in officials to discharge their duties with integrity, diligence, and a strong sense of responsibility, urging them to work collaboratively in delivering the dividends of democracy to residents of the Local Government.

    Portfolios Assigned

    The following officials were sworn in with their respective portfolios:

    • Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji – Vice Chairman & Supervisor for Works and Infrastructure
    • Hon. Balogun Hakeem Oluwole – Supervisor for Youth and Sports
    • Hon. Aje Saheed – Supervisor for Health
    • Hon. Edalere Olusola – Supervisor for Agriculture, Rural and Community Development
    • Hon. Balogun Abdulwaliu Oluwagbemi – Supervisor for Budget, Planning and Statistics
    • Hon. Lasiru Sule – Supervisor for Information, Communication and Technology
    • Hon. Sodiq Agbaje – Supervisor for Education and Library Services
    • Hon. Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan – Supervisor for Environmental Services and Waste Management
    • Hon. Elemoro Ajibola – Supervisor for Market and Revenue
    • Hon. Alonge Fatai – Supervisor for Works, Infrastructure, Housing and Tourism
    • Hon. Bisola Raolat Azeez – Supervisor for Women Affairs

    Special Advisers:

    • Hon. Wakilat Odupe – Wealth Creation
    • Hon. Saheed Yusuf – Agriculture, Rural and Community Development
    • Hon. Nurudeen Adeboyejo – Political Affairs
    • Hon. Yusuf Mujaidu – Chieftaincy and Cultural Affairs
    • Hon. Shakirat Bisola Musari – Business and Economic Development

    Additionally, three Special Advisers (Non-Cabinet) were appointed:

    • Rafiu Sanmi Eletu
    • Jimoh Azeez
    • Kazeem Ridwan Abolaji

    Hon. Olowa congratulated the appointees and reminded them that their appointments represent both an honour and a responsibility. He urged them not to disappoint the people of Ibeju-Lekki who have entrusted them with the mandate to serve diligently and contribute meaningfully to the development of the council.

    Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji; Mojeed Fatai Adebola, Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I; Hon. Olowu Abiola Okanlawon, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Revenue and Energy; Hon. Raheem Kazeem, former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ibeju-Lekki Constituency II; Dr. Adekoya Adesanya, Council Manager; as well as other political leaders, stakeholders, and community representatives.

    The ceremony underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, institutional strengthening, and accelerated socio-economic development across Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.
