The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, has firmly reaffirmed his leadership of the union, dismissing recent claims challenging his position and authority.
Speaking with Romi Odulabi lagostrend reporter Abuja in response to the controversy surrounding the takeover of the union’s national secretariat, MC Oluomo described allegations credited to one Baruwa as “baseless and misleading,” stressing that he remains the duly recognized and authentic National President of the NURTW.
“I am the authentic president of the union. My name is not on the judgment being referenced,” he stated, clarifying that the legal ruling being circulated does not in any way invalidate his leadership or mandate.
The union leader further expressed disappointment at what he termed “ingratitude” from Baruwa, alleging that certain individuals are attempting to distort facts and create unnecessary tension within the union. He called on members nationwide to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to the unity and progress of the organization.
MC Oluomo emphasized that the leadership of the NURTW remains intact and focused on strengthening the welfare of its members, while also maintaining peace and order across transport operations in the country.
He urged stakeholders and the general public to disregard misinformation and rely only on verified updates from the union’s recognized leadership.
The situation, however, continues to attract attention within the transport sector, as observers call for dialogue and adherence to due process to resolve any lingering disputes.
