Lagos State Government Releases 2026/2027 Harmonised Academic Calendar for Public and Private Schools

Lagostrend report that the Lagos State Government has officially approved and released the 2026/2027 Harmonised Academic Calendar for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state, reaffirming its commitment to delivering a structured, efficient, and high-quality education system. The announcement was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, following extensive consultations with key education stakeholders coordinated by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA). According to the Commissioner, the academic calendar was finalised after two comprehensive stakeholders’ meetings, where representatives from both the public and private education sectors reviewed and unanimously agreed on the key dates for the forthcoming academic session. The newly approved calendar provides a comprehensive guide to school resumption dates, mid-term breaks, examination periods, and holidays, enabling school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to effectively plan for a smooth and productive academic year. Mr. Alli-Balogun stated that the harmonised calendar demonstrates the Lagos State Government’s unwavering dedication to promoting excellence in education through proper planning, coordination, and standardisation across all schools. He urged every public and private school in the state to strictly adhere to the approved timetable.
