Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government has recorded a remarkable national achievement as its Executive Chairman, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, has been honoured with the prestigious title of Best Local Government Chairman in Nigeria 2026, distinguishing himself among chairmen from all 774 Local Government Areas across the country.

The prestigious recognition comes in acknowledgment of Hon. Akindipe’s outstanding leadership, visionary administration, and impactful developmental initiatives delivered within less than one year in office. His emergence as the national winner reflects the significant progress recorded in governance, infrastructure development, community engagement, and service delivery under the Akindipe administration.

According to official correspondence received from the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, six Local Governments in Lagos State were nominated for the national recognition, with Ajeromi-Ifelodun standing out through its exceptional performance and transformational achievements.

The award ceremony is scheduled to hold on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Nigerian Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, where Hon. Akindipe will formally receive the national honour.

Residents, stakeholders, community leaders, and political associates have described the award as a well-deserved recognition of the Chairman’s dedication to grassroots development and his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people of Ajeromi-Ifelodun.

Since assuming office, Hon. Akindipe has championed several people-oriented programmes and projects aimed at enhancing socio-economic growth, strengthening local governance, and fostering sustainable development across the local government.
