Lagostrend report that the children of late Kashiff Adelakun and his wife, late Mrs Asmau Iyabo Agabalogun, have commemorated the 30th anniversary of their parents’ demise with a humanitarian outreach, distributing food packs to members of the community at the First Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, Epe, Lagos State.

The remembrance programme brought together family members, religious leaders and members of the Epe community to reflect on the lives, values and enduring legacy of the deceased couple, whose teachings on generosity, compassion and kindness continue to influence successive generations of their family.

The charity outreach served as a practical demonstration of the values the late couple instilled in their children, reinforcing the importance of supporting the less privileged and giving back to society.

CHILDREN REAFFIRM COMMITMENT TO PARENTS’ LEGACY

Speaking in an interview with EPE LAWA, the daughters of the deceased, Mrs Aminat Adedotun Gbajabiamila and Alhaja Basirat Odunewu, reflected on the lessons they learnt from their parents and explained how those teachings continue to shape their lives.

According to them, their parents consistently demonstrated the importance of generosity, love for humanity and extending a helping hand to those in need.

They explained that the decision to mark the 30th anniversary with a modest humanitarian outreach was inspired by their parents’ lifelong commitment to charitable giving.

The daughters noted that distributing food packs to members of the community was a meaningful way to honour their parents’ memories while sustaining the principles they upheld during their lifetime.

They encouraged children to remember their departed parents through prayers, charitable acts and other good deeds, stressing that such gestures provide a lasting tribute to their lives and values.

They further disclosed that they had passed these lessons on to their own children, with the aim of ensuring that the family’s tradition of generosity and compassion continues to flourish among future generations.

BARRISTER IBRAHIM DESCRIBES LATE COUPLE AS GENEROUS AND COMPASSIONATE

Also speaking with EPE LAWA, Barrister Omodele Ibrahim, popularly known as Iroko, an illustrious son of Epe Kingdom, described the late Kashiff Adelakun and Mrs Asmau Iyabo Agabalogun as individuals whose generosity and compassionate disposition left a lasting impression on those who knew them.

He emphasised the importance of preserving the memories of departed loved ones through meaningful acts of kindness, particularly those that bring relief and support to people in need.

Barrister Ibrahim encouraged children to continue offering charity on behalf of their deceased parents, noting that such gestures provide an opportunity to honour their memories while contributing positively to the welfare of society.

He added that the legacy of individuals who dedicated themselves to helping others could continue to inspire generations long after their passing.

ISLAMIC CLERIC EMPHASISES PRAYERS AND CHARITY FOR THE DEPARTED

In his remarks, the Eketa of the First Epe Central Mosque, Sheikh Abdulrahman Awesu, offered an Islamic perspective on the significance of remembering deceased parents through prayers and charitable deeds.

The cleric encouraged Muslims to remain steadfast in praying for their departed loved ones and to engage in charitable activities in their names.

He highlighted the importance Islam places on good deeds, compassion and acts of charity that benefit others, noting that these values remain essential responsibilities for the living.

His message reinforced the spiritual significance of the remembrance programme, reminding the congregation of the importance of faith, kindness and supporting those in need.

    A LEGACY THAT TRANSCENDS GENERATIONS

Thirty years after their demise, the memories of late Kashiff Adelakun and his wife, Mrs Asmau Iyabo Agabalogun, continue to live on through the values they instilled in their children and the charitable gestures inspired by their lives.

The anniversary celebration was more than a remembrance of the departed couple; it was a reaffirmation of the enduring power of generosity, compassion and service to humanity.

Through the distribution of food packs and the messages shared during the gathering, the family demonstrated its commitment to preserving the virtues associated with their late parents.

The event also served as a reminder that a meaningful legacy is not measured solely by material possessions or public recognition, but by the positive impact an individual makes on others and the values passed down to future generations.

As family members and well-wishers remembered the departed couple, the occasion underscored a timeless message: the most enduring tribute to those who have passed on is to continue the good works they stood for and keep their spirit of kindness alive through prayers, charity and service to humanity.
