
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, has reportedly died after collapsing during a party reconciliation meeting in Iyara, the headquarters of the council area.
According to reports, Solomon reportedly slumped on Friday while participating in a meeting convened by a former Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Funsho Olumoko, as part of efforts to strengthen unity and reconciliation among APC stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sources said the meeting was ongoing when the APC chairman suddenly collapsed, throwing participants into confusion and concern.
His reported death has sent shockwaves through the APC family in Ijumu and across Kogi State, coming at a time when party stakeholders were working towards greater unity and cooperation ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Oyewole Mayowa Solomon was reportedly an active participant in efforts to promote peace, dialogue and cohesion within the party in the local government.
