The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to quality education and effective school management as the Executive Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu, monitored the first day of the second term of the 2025/2026 Academic Session across selected public primary schools in Lagos State.

The monitoring exercise, carried out in line with the Board’s mantra of “Leave No Child Behind,” covered schools including St. Agnes Primary School and Maryland Primary School, among others. During the visit, Dr. Shittu assessed pupils’ turnout, teachers’ attendance and punctuality, as well as the overall level of preparedness of schools for the new academic term.

While observing that pupils’ turnout on the first day of resumption was not as encouraging as expected, the LASUBEB Chairman emphasized the importance of early resumption, describing it as critical to effective teaching and learning. He appealed to parents and guardians across the state to ensure that their children and wards return to school promptly, stressing that regular attendance is vital to pupils’ academic success and holistic development.

Lagostrend report that Dr. Shittu commended teachers and school administrators who resumed promptly, applauding their dedication and professionalism. He urged them to sustain their commitment to duty and continue providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment that fosters excellence among pupils.

A highlight of the monitoring exercise was the Chairman’s interaction with pupils and teachers. Notably, Esther Mathias, a Primary Two pupil, shared her aspiration of becoming a teacher in the future. Dr. Shittu encouraged her to remain focused, disciplined, and hardworking, describing her ambition as a positive reflection of the impact of quality education and committed teaching in Lagos State public schools.

Reiterating LASUBEB’s resolve, Dr. Shittu assured stakeholders that the Board will continue sustained monitoring and supervision of schools to ensure adherence to standards, effective implementation of the academic calendar, and alignment with the Lagos State Government’s vision of improved learning outcomes at the basic education level.

The exercise underscores LASUBEB’s proactive approach to strengthening public primary education and ensuring that every child in Lagos State has access to quality, inclusive, and impactful learning opportunities.
