The 2025 National Convention of the Nawair-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Obantoko, Abeokuta Old Students’ Association (NUDGOSA) came to a vibrant and memorable close on Saturday, 24th, with a colourful and highly competitive grand finale that transformed the venue into a lively hub of celebration, unity, and renewed commitment to development.
The grand finale was marked by energetic activities and impressive performances by various graduating sets, each showcasing months of careful preparation. The festive atmosphere kept many members at the venue long after the formal programme ended, vividly reflecting the strong bond, enthusiasm, and growing cohesion within the Association.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of awards of recognition to distinguished members for their outstanding contributions to NUDGOSA and its alma mater. Among the honourees were Yeye Toyin Jaiye-Daramola, Chairman of the New NUDGOSA UK Chapter, and Alhaji Ishaq Sodipo. The recognition accorded Yeye Toyin followed the commissioning earlier in the week of a 50-bed Girls’ Hostel facilitated by the New UK Chapter—a landmark intervention that attracted widespread commendation from members and stakeholders.
In his address, the National President, Hon. Fasiu Bakenne, urged individuals, sets, and chapters to further intensify their support for developmental projects within the school. He noted that contributions and sponsorships are becoming increasingly competitive, impactful, and central to the Association’s vision for sustainable growth.
The event also featured a successful fundraising session, expertly moderated by Otunba Riliwan Ogunwoolu, which further strengthened NUDGOSA’s resolve to expand its interventions and support for the development of the school.
Overall, the grand finale crowned a week-long convention characterised by infrastructural development, academic engagement, strategic dialogue, and social interaction, reaffirming NUDGOSA’s enduring commitment to educational excellence, alumni unity, and community development.
The occasion attracted a wide array of eminent personalities from diverse walks of life, including the Representative of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Ogun State; Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former Secretary to the Ogun State Government, and a proud NUDGOSA member; Alhaji Najeem Awodele, former Minister of State for Agriculture and past President of NUDGOSA; Alhaji Najeem Jimoh, renowned media guru; the National President of the Nawair-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria; Chief Nìyí Lasaki, Chairman, Board of Trustees, economist, retired investment banker, and former Chairman of Tell Magazine; Professor Babatunde Oke, who delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the convention theme; Hon. Justice Tajudeen Okunsokan (rtd.), a distinguished NUDGOSA member; as well as numerous members from across Nigeria and the Diaspora, including the United Kingdom, United States of America, and Canada.

The successful conclusion of the 2025 National Convention once again positioned NUDGOSA as a vibrant and forward-looking alumni association, united in purpose and steadfast in its mission to give back to its alma mater and contribute meaningfully to society.
