The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Epe Branch, has successfully hosted its 2026 Ramadan Lecture, bringing together youths, community leaders, religious scholars, and key stakeholders in an atmosphere of reflection, learning, and unity.

The event, themed “The Role of Nigerian Youths in Promoting Peaceful Coexistence and Interfaith Harmony,” focused on the vital responsibility of young people in fostering understanding, tolerance, and peaceful relationships in Nigeria’s diverse society.

The lecture, originally scheduled to be delivered by Professor Nosirudeen Onibon, was presented by Ustadh Abdul Kareem Yusuf (Imam LASU) who represented the guest lecturer due to his unavoidable absence. In his lecture, Ustadh Yusuf emphasized the importance of unity, moral discipline, and mutual respect among people of different religious and cultural backgrounds.

He encouraged youths to become agents of peace and positive change, stressing that the stability and progress of society largely depend on the attitudes and actions of young people.

The programme attracted several notable personalities and community stakeholders including the Vice Chairman of Epe Local Government, Alhaji Sikiru Owolomoshe, Dr. Muse Sulaimon, Dr. Ishola Toyib, Mr. Giwa Moshood, Comrade Ladele Ismail, and Alhaji Rabiu Qadri (Missioner, JEMDAS), among others.

Speaking during the programme, the leadership of NYCN Epe Branch reiterated that Nigerian youths must rise above religious and ethnic differences to become ambassadors of peace, unity, and development within their communities.

“Youths must see themselves as builders of peace and promoters of harmony regardless of religious or ethnic differences. The future of our society depends largely on how young people choose to embrace unity and mutual respect,” the council stated.

The Ramadan Lecture also served as a platform for meaningful dialogue on the importance of interfaith cooperation, tolerance, and responsible youth engagement in nation-building.

The organizers expressed profound appreciation to dignitaries, youth leaders, religious scholars, and community stakeholders who attended and contributed to the success of the programme.

“We sincerely appreciate all dignitaries, youth leaders, religious leaders, community stakeholders and participants who honored our invitation and supported the success of this programme,” the council added.

Participants at the event also commended the initiative, noting that such programmes are crucial in guiding young people toward positive values while strengthening unity and peaceful coexistence within the community.

The leadership of NYCN Epe Branch reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and constructive youth participation in community development across Epe Division and beyond.

“Together, we will continue to strengthen the values of peace, unity and responsible youth engagement within our community,” the organizers concluded.
