
The appointment of
Prof. Nosirudeen Olajide Onibon as the
Pioneer Rector of the newly established Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic, Abuja, has been widely welcomed as a significant step toward strengthening technical and academic education in Nigeria.
Prof. Onibon, an accomplished
Arabic linguist and seasoned academic administrator, brings decades of experience in teaching, research, and institutional leadership to the new federal institution. Before this new role, Prof. Onibon served as the
Provost of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED), where he provided visionary leadership that enhanced academic programmes, strengthened institutional growth, and promoted quality teacher education.
He also served as
Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), where he played a crucial role in advancing academic standards, research development, and administrative reforms within the university.
In addition, Prof. Onibon is a respected lecturer in
Arabic linguistics at Lagos State University (LASU). He is widely recognised for his scholarly contributions to Islamic education, linguistics, and the promotion of moral values within the academic community.
As the
Pioneer Rector, Prof. Onibon is expected to lay a strong foundation for the growth of the new federal polytechnic by fostering innovation, academic excellence, and practical skill development in line with national education objectives.
