
It was a moment of honour, reflection, and celebration on Monday, April 20, 2026, as the Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, led a distinguished gathering of top government officials, education stakeholders, and eminent personalities to celebrate the retirement of Mr. Olusegun Olawale Osinaike, FCAI, Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District III.
Lagostrend report that the historic event, held at the Education District III premises in Falomo, Ikoyi, was organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Education in honour of the education icon’s statutory retirement and 60th birthday, marking the culmination of a remarkable career dedicated to public service and educational development.
In his keynote remarks, Mr. Agoro described Osinaike as a disciplined, hardworking, and visionary leader whose legacy in the education sector remains indelible. He commended the retiree’s unwavering commitment, noting that the structures and reforms he championed would continue to shape the future of education in Lagos State.

“His retirement is not an end, but the beginning of a new chapter filled with greater opportunities,” Agoro stated, offering prayers for continued guidance, good health, and fulfillment in the years ahead.
The ceremony attracted an array of dignitaries, including Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abiodun Tobun; former Member of the House of Representatives, Bola Gbabijo; and Hon. Oladele Ajayi, alongside members of statutory commissions, retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries, royal fathers, and representatives of key educational bodies such as the Nigeria Union of Teachers and the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools.
Also speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, praised Osinaike’s exceptional leadership, describing him as a beacon of excellence whose dedication and transformative vision significantly elevated educational standards across the state.
He noted that Osinaike’s integrity, innovation, and passion for nurturing young minds have left a lasting impact on both educators and students, emphasizing that his contributions will continue to inspire future generations.
In his tribute, Hon. Tobun highlighted the retiree’s compassion, humility, and forward-thinking approach, stating that his influence extended beyond administration to shaping lives and building a brighter future for countless learners.
