Residents and customers have been urged to remain vigilant while carrying out transactions at fuel stations following an alleged incident involving a fuel station attendant at DANCO Filling Station, Mojoda area of Eredo, Epe, Lagos State.
According to reports, a customer who visited the filling station to purchase fuel allegedly had money withdrawn from his bank account after handing over his ATM card and PIN to an attendant for payment processing. It was gathered that the withdrawal was allegedly carried out without the full knowledge or consent of the customer.
The incident has sparked concerns among residents over the safety of ATM transactions and the growing need for customers to personally handle their banking details during POS or ATM transactions.
Members of the public are therefore advised to be extremely careful when disclosing their ATM PINs or handing over their cards to attendants, vendors, or third parties during transactions.
Customers are encouraged to always:
– Shield their PIN while entering it.
– Avoid revealing their ATM PIN to anyone.
– Monitor transaction alerts immediately.
– Request receipts for every transaction.
– Report any suspicious activity to their bank and security agencies promptly.
This incident serves as another reminder for Nigerians to remain alert and protect their personal banking information at all times.
