NYCN Urges Agege Residents to Embrace Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Agege Local Government Chapter, has called on all residents, particularly young people, to actively participate in the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise as part of efforts to promote a cleaner, healthier, and safer community. In a statement issued by the Youth Coordinator, Comrade Adigun Joseph O., residents were reminded that environmental cleanliness is not just a civic duty but a collective commitment to public health, environmental sustainability, and community development. According to the statement, the sanitation exercise, which takes place on the last Saturday of every month from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., provides an opportunity for everyone to clean their surroundings, properly dispose of waste, and encourage others to do the same. The council emphasized that environmental sanitation goes beyond sweeping streets, noting that it plays a vital role in preventing disease outbreaks, improving public health, and fostering pride in the community. Comrade Adigun urged the youth of Agege to take the lead by demonstrating responsibility and inspiring others through active participation. «”A clean environment reflects discipline, unity, and progress. This is the time for every resident, especially our young people, to take ownership of our streets, markets, homes, and public spaces. Together, we can build a cleaner, greener, and healthier Agege,” he said.» The NYCN reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote environmental consciousness and community development while encouraging all residents to make the monthly sanitation exercise a shared responsibility.
