Just In: Relief as Waste Collection Truck Returns to Odomola Following Lagostrend Media Report; Residents Commend Hon. Akinloye, Seek More Trucks for Eredo LCDA

Lagostrend report that the residents of Odomola in Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, have expressed joy and relief following the return of the council’s waste collection truck to the community after concerns over uncollected refuse were brought to public attention earlier this week by Lagostrend Media.
The return of the waste truck has brought an end to the growing refuse challenge in the area, as heaps of waste that had accumulated in residential compounds and business premises are now being evacuated.
During a visit to the community, Lagostrend Media interviewed one of the environmental sanitation officials, who explained the monthly waste management charges collected from residents. According to the official, the fees are strictly for the maintenance and operation of the waste collection service.
He stated that residents occupying upstairs apartments pay ₦2,000 monthly, those in downstairs apartments pay ₦1,000, while shop owners pay ₦500 per month. He further disclosed that the waste collection truck will operate on a weekly schedule, with Odomola receiving waste collection services once every week.
Some residents, while appreciating the resumption of the service, appealed to the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, to provide additional waste collection trucks. They noted that a single truck is insufficient to effectively serve the entire LCDA, especially communities such as Iraye-Oke, Imokun, Igboye, and other surrounding areas.

The residents commended Hon. Akinloye for his developmental efforts and commitment to improving environmental sanitation across Eredo LCDA, describing his administration as one that is working towards making the council a cleaner and better place for all.
