An atmosphere of grief and deep emotion enveloped Ketu, Lagos, as family members, friends, colleagues, and sympathisers gathered to bid a final farewell to Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as IJAYA, a member of the Lagos State Executive of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the union’s Organising Secretary.
Lagostrend report that Ajiboye was laid to rest following his tragic death in a reported gun attack, an incident that has continued to generate widespread sorrow within the transport union and across Lagos State.
The burial ceremony was marked by tears and heartfelt tributes as mourners paid their last respects to a man many described as dedicated, hardworking, and committed to the growth of the NURTW. Emotional scenes unfolded as family members, associates, and union members struggled to come to terms with the painful loss.
Several NURTW officials, community leaders, and well-wishers attended the funeral to honour the late transport leader, offering prayers and words of comfort to his bereaved family.
The passing of Toba Ajiboye, widely known as IJAYA, has left a significant void in the union and among those who knew him personally. His contributions to the transport sector and his service to the union will be remembered by many.
As he is laid to rest, prayers continue for God to grant his family the strength to bear the irreparable loss and to bless his soul with eternal peace.
