  Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Chairman Empowers Farmers with Farm Machines, Tools, Inputs at AFAN Executive Inauguration WATCH VIDEO BELOW  The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Akogun (Dr.) Wale Raji-Anomo, has been recognised for his outstanding investment and commitment to agricultural development, earning him the prestigious appointment as Patron of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA. The honour was conferred on the council chairman during the Renewed Hope Farmers Empowerment and Support Programme, held at the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Secretariat on Monday, August 10, 2026. The event also featured the inauguration of the new AFAN executives in Ikosi-Ejinrin, empowerment of farmers and an exhibition showcasing agricultural produce from farmers within the LCDA. Presenting the certificate of appointment, AFAN National Secretary and immediate past Chairman of AFAN in Lagos State, Otunba Femi Oke, disclosed that Dr. Anomo’s unprecedented commitment to agriculture and farmers was responsible for the decision to honour him as Patron. According to him, the decision was reached after consultations with the National President of AFAN in Abuja, following the remarkable agricultural initiatives being implemented by the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA administration. Dr. Anomo was subsequently presented with the Certificate of Appointment and decorated by two royal fathers who graced the occasion — His Royal Majesty, Oba (BLDR.) Aderibigbe Asunmo, Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Owolabi Saheed Momson, Abowa of Agbowa-Ikosi Kingdom — with the support of the AFAN National Secretary. ‘What Dr. Anomo Has Done Is Unprecedented’ — AFAN Lagos Chairman Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Chairman of AFAN, Mr. Sakin Agbayewa, expressed appreciation for the council chairman’s commitment to farmers, describing the empowerment programme as unprecedented. He noted that he had participated in the inauguration of AFAN executives across numerous local government areas in Lagos State, but had never witnessed an occasion where farmers were simultaneously empowered on such a scale during the inauguration of their executives. He commended Dr. Anomo for demonstrating practical leadership and genuine concern for the welfare of farmers in Ikosi-Ejinrin. Farmers Receive Machines, Tools and Agricultural Inputs As part of the empowerment programme, several farmers received agricultural machines, tools and inputs designed to improve productivity and make farming more profitable. Beneficiaries received items including water pumps, bags of NPK 10 fertiliser, chicks and feeds, fishing nets, sprayers, wheelbarrows, cutlasses, hoes, rakes, shovels and diggers, among other farming equipment. The intervention is expected to strengthen farming activities across Ikosi-Ejinrin and provide farmers with some of the tools required to increase production and contribute to food security. Anomo: Agriculture Remains a Priority Addressing the gathering, Dr. Wale Anomo reiterated his administration’s commitment to agricultural development, stressing that Ikosi-Ejinrin is predominantly an agricultural area with farmers engaged in different forms of farming. He said the empowerment initiative was designed to complement efforts at the federal and state levels to promote agricultural sustainability, food security and economic development. According to him, the administration recognises the challenges confronting farmers and will continue to provide support that can help them overcome those challenges and make agriculture more attractive and profitable. Dr. Anomo urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items provided, improve their farm output and ensure that the intervention translates into increased agricultural production. He also charged the newly inaugurated AFAN executives to work collectively in the interest of farmers and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of agriculture in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA. New AFAN Executives Inaugurated The occasion also witnessed the inauguration of Alhaji Ifesanya Lateef Adeshina as the new AFAN Chairman, Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, alongside other members of the executive committee. The inauguration was conducted by the AFAN Lagos State Chairman, Mr. Sakin Agbayewa, who charged the new executives to promote unity, cooperation and the overall welfare of farmers in the LCDA. Farm Produce Exhibition Adds Colour to Event A major highlight of the programme was the well-organised exhibition of farm produce by farmers within the LCDA. The royal fathers, Dr. Anomo and other dignitaries inspected the exhibition stands, with the council chairman and other guests patronising the farmers and showing practical support for their businesses. The exhibition provided an opportunity for farmers to showcase their products while encouraging greater patronage of locally produced agricultural goods. Stakeholders Commend Anomo’s Agricultural Vision The AFAN Lagos State Women Leader, Farmer Alhaja Olaide Afolake, and the AFAN Chairman, Epe Chapter, Engr. Owolabi, also commended Dr. Anomo for his commitment to agricultural development. They urged the beneficiaries to ensure that the intervention produces measurable results through increased farm production, noting that greater agricultural output could contribute to lower food prices and improved food availability. The Head of Department, Agriculture and Social Services, Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Mr. Paramole Rasaki, described farmers as indispensable to society because of their role in ensuring food production. He commended Dr. Anomo for being a responsive and compassionate leader who has consistently demonstrated concern for farmers and agricultural development across communities within the LCDA. Dignitaries Honoured for Contributions to Agriculture The event also featured the decoration of selected personalities who have contributed to agricultural development in Ikosi-Ejinrin. Those honoured included former Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Samson Onanuga; AFAN National Secretary, Otunba Femi Oke; Chairman, Wale Raji Think-Tank, Otunba Nurudeen; and HOD Agriculture and Social Services, Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Mr. Paramole Rasaki, among others. The gathering brought together traditional rulers, government officials, agricultural stakeholders, AFAN executives, farmers and community leaders in a celebration of agriculture and grassroots empowerment. The event further underscored the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA administration’s determination to make agriculture a major driver of economic empowerment, food security and sustainable development within the council area.
