The Olu of Warri and his wife have marked the monarch’s 5th coronation anniversary with a memorable community ride through Ode Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri people.
The special celebration brought together members of the Itsekiri community, distinguished guests, professional cyclists, scooter riders and enthusiastic young people, creating a colourful display of unity, heritage and community spirit.
The royal couple explored the historic island along the newly completed Trans Warri–Ode Itsekiri Road, providing an opportunity to celebrate not only the monarch’s five years on the throne but also the progress and development taking place within the kingdom.
The ride offered a unique blend of tradition and modernity, as the royal family, community members and participants came together to honour the rich cultural heritage of the Itsekiri people while showcasing the importance of connectivity and infrastructure to the growth of the community.
The occasion also highlighted the strong bond between the traditional institution and the people, particularly the younger generation, who participated actively in the anniversary celebration.
The 5th coronation anniversary therefore stands as a celebration of heritage, unity, development and the continuing journey of the Warri Kingdom, with Ode Itsekiri once again serving as a significant symbol of Itsekiri history and identity.
The memorable ride was a fitting way to commemorate five years of royal leadership, community engagement and commitment to the enduring values of the kingdom.
