Guinea-Bissau Stun Super Eagles 3–0 in AFCON 2027 Qualifier
Guinea-Bissau secured a commanding 3–0 victory over Nigeria in a Group L encounter of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at the Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau on Tuesday.
The result came as a setback for the Super Eagles, who had opened their qualifying campaign with a 2–1 comeback victory over Madagascar in Uyo. Guinea-Bissau, meanwhile, had defeated Tanzania 2–0 in their opening fixture.
Guinea-Bissau took control of the match early, with Franculino Djú opening the scoring in the first half. Nigeria attempted to respond but struggled to turn their opportunities into goals.
The hosts extended their advantage after the interval through Mama Baldé, putting the Djurtus in a strong position as the Super Eagles searched for a way back into the contest. Álvaro Djaló then added a third goal in stoppage time to complete the 3–0 victory.
