The Lagos State Chapter of the National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN) has demonstrated its commitment to community service and educational welfare with a heartwarming back-to-school outreach to pupils in Epe and Eredo communities.
As part of the initiative, the association distributed new school shoes, sandals and socks to pupils of St. Theresa Primary School, Epe, and RCM Primary School, Odomola, Epe, providing practical support to children as they resumed for the new academic session.
The humanitarian gesture was designed to assist pupils with some of their basic school needs while also helping to ease the financial pressure on parents and guardians who often face significant expenses at the beginning of a new school term.
The outreach was greeted with excitement and happiness as pupils received their new footwear and socks. The joyful reactions of the children reflected the importance of seemingly simple acts of kindness in making a positive difference in their educational experience.
NFSAN: Supporting Children, Relieving Parents
Speaking with Lagostrend during the outreach, the Chairperson of NFSAN Lagos State, Comrade Wasiu Nofisat Mojisola, explained that the initiative was conceived as a practical way of welcoming pupils into the new academic session while supporting their families.
She noted that preparing children for a new school term can place considerable financial demands on parents and guardians, especially when several educational and personal items have to be purchased simultaneously.
According to her, NFSAN decided to contribute its quota by providing some of the essential items required by pupils.
“This is an opportunity to welcome the pupils into the new academic season and also relieve their parents of some of the financial burden of providing essential school items for their children,” she said.
Comrade Wasiu further stressed that supporting children goes beyond academic activities, noting that pupils also need basic materials that enable them to attend school comfortably and confidently.
She reaffirmed the association’s determination to continue identifying initiatives capable of creating positive social impact across communities.
Giving Back to Society
Also speaking, the Vice Chairperson of NFSAN Lagos State, Comrade Adelaja Azanat Abosede, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to giving back to society and supporting programmes that promote the welfare and development of young people.
She explained that while NFSAN represents and advocates for female students, the association also recognises its responsibility to contribute positively to society through humanitarian and community-based initiatives.
According to her, the distribution of school footwear and socks demonstrates how collective efforts can support children and strengthen communities.
She maintained that NFSAN would continue to advocate for the rights, welfare and development of female students while seeking opportunities to contribute meaningfully to communities.
Pupils Receive NFSAN Delegation with Excitement
The pupils of the two schools warmly welcomed the NFSAN delegation and expressed appreciation for the new shoes, sandals and socks.
For the beneficiaries, the items arrived at an important time as they commenced another academic session. Beyond the material support, the outreach offered the children encouragement and reminded them that individuals and organisations within society care about their education and welfare.
The gesture was also appreciated by members of the school communities, who recognised the importance of organisations extending humanitarian support directly to children.
Promoting Education Through Community Service
The NFSAN Lagos State outreach underscores the important role that civil society organisations, student associations and community groups can play in complementing efforts to improve children’s welfare and encourage school attendance.
By focusing on practical needs such as school footwear and socks, NFSAN demonstrated that meaningful community impact can begin with relatively simple interventions that respond directly to the needs of children and families.
The initiative also reinforced the message that education is a shared responsibility, requiring the collective contribution of parents, schools, government institutions, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
NFSAN Lagos State said it would continue to explore avenues to support young people, empower female students, promote welfare and contribute positively to communities.
The visit to St. Theresa Primary School, Epe, and RCM Primary School, Odomola, therefore ended with more than the distribution of school items. It created an atmosphere of joy, encouragement and renewed motivation for the pupils to remain focused on their studies and pursue their educational aspirations.
Through the outreach, NFSAN Lagos State has once again demonstrated the value of compassion, community service and collective responsibility in supporting children and strengthening communities.
