Residents Cry for Help as Devastating Rainfall and Flooding Submerge Homes, Destroy Properties in Goshen Close, Lakowe Phase II

Lagostrend report that the residents of Goshen Close, Lakowe Phase II, along the Ibeju-Lekki Expressway, are calling on the Lagos State Government and the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, to urgently intervene following severe flooding and erosion that have left the community in distress. According to residents, the heavy rainfall triggered massive flooding that swept away valuable properties and submerged several buildings, with floodwaters rising to nearly half the height of many houses. The disaster has made it extremely difficult for residents to move freely, while many business owners have been forced to suspend their daily activities due to the persistent flooding. According to our news correspondence the affected residents described the situation as alarming, noting that the continuous erosion poses a serious threat to lives, homes, and livelihoods if immediate action is not taken. They appealed to the Lagos State Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, emergency management agencies, and other relevant government authorities to urgently assess the damage and provide lasting solutions through improved drainage systems, erosion control measures, and relief support for affected families. Residents expressed hope that the government would respond swiftly to prevent further destruction, protect lives and property, and restore normalcy to the community. The people of Goshen Close reiterated their plea for urgent intervention, stressing that immediate action is needed to avert a worsening humanitarian and environmental crisis in the area.
