Prominent Ijaw leader and former Niger Delta agitator, King Asari Dokubo, has spoken firmly on the reported impeachment move against Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, reaffirming his unwavering support for the governor and the Ijaw people.
In a strong and clarifying statement, Dokubo emphasized that his loyalty to the Ijaw nation remains non-negotiable, stressing that political alliances will never come at the expense of his people.
“I will never sacrifice the Ijaw people for anyone,” Dokubo said. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is my friend and has my 100 percent support. Governor Siminalayi Fubara is my Ijaw brother, and I stand with him.”
Addressing growing political tensions in Rivers State, Dokubo underscored the historical precedence of governors in the state serving second terms, insisting that Governor Fubara deserves the same opportunity.
“Rivers governors do second terms — an Ijaw man will do the same,” he declared.
The Ijaw leader also sent a pointed message to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, urging restraint and respect for the collective will of the people.
“My message to Wike is clear,” Dokubo stated, without mincing words.
Political observers view Dokubo’s intervention as a significant development in the unfolding Rivers State political landscape, given his influence within the Niger Delta and among Ijaw communities. His comments are expected to resonate strongly amid calls for stability, dialogue, and democratic continuity in the state.
As tensions persist, stakeholders continue to urge all parties to prioritize peace, constitutional order, and the interests of Rivers people above political rivalry.
