Concerns Raised Over Alleged Endorsement Process in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I

  A political analyst and community advocate, Raymond Oladapo Eturugo, has raised strong concerns regarding the recent announcement of an alleged “endorsement” of Hon. Abdul Mojeed Fatai by certain party leaders in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I. In a statement made available to party stakeholders and aspirants, Eturugo described the process leading to the endorsement as inconsistent with democratic principles and lacking transparency, inclusiveness, and fairness. He emphasized that any form of consensus within a political party must reflect the genuine will of its members through open and credible engagement. According to him, presenting the endorsement as a unified consensus risks misrepresenting the true position of stakeholders within the constituency. He stressed that sustainable political development and the well-being of Ibeju-Lekki can only be achieved through a level playing field where all aspirants are given equal opportunity to contest and present their visions. Eturugo further cautioned that internal decisions perceived as predetermined could create disaffection among party members and potentially weaken unity ahead of future electoral engagements. He noted that while unity remains critical, it must be built on trust, fairness, and adherence to constitutional processes. The statement also called on party leadership at all levels to carefully review the circumstances surrounding the endorsement and ensure that due process is followed in line with the party’s constitution. He urged stakeholders to prioritize internal democracy as a cornerstone for long-term political success. Reaffirming his commitment to the growth and stability of the party, Eturugo encouraged all members to uphold the values of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity, stressing that these principles are essential to maintaining public confidence and strengthening the party’s position within Lagos State. Prominent figures within the party, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Femi Gbajabiamila, Mudashiru Obasa, and Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, were also referenced as key stakeholders whose leadership continues to shape the direction of the party in Lagos East.
