The Lagos State Supervisors Forum (Council 57), made up of Coordinators from the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) for the 2025–2029 tenure, has unanimously endorsed Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat and Damilola Sonayon James as its preferred candidates for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship and deputy governorship tickets ahead of the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
The endorsement was announced during the forum’s meeting held at Golden Destiny Hotels, Ajao Estate, Isolo LCDA, where members from across the state’s 57 councils gathered despite heavy rainfall, demonstrating strong commitment to the forum, the APC, and grassroots political mobilisation.
In addition to the endorsement, the forum reaffirmed its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, pledging to intensify mobilisation efforts across all LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos State.
A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation and detailed consideration of the forum’s proposed constitution and by-laws. Members reviewed the documents extensively, made valuable contributions, and expressed commitment to building a transparent, accountable and effective framework that will strengthen the organisation.
The forum also approved its State Executive zoning arrangement for the 2025–2029 tenure across the three senatorial districts to ensure fairness, inclusiveness and balanced representation.
Under the approved arrangement, Lagos Central Senatorial District will produce the Chairman, Third Vice Chairman, Assistant Financial Secretary, Assistant Welfare Officer, Assistant Treasurer and Ex-Officio I.
Lagos East Senatorial District will produce the General Secretary, Vice Chairman, Financial Secretary, Chief Whip, Legal Officer, Auditor, Assistant Organising Secretary and Ex-Officio II.
Lagos West Senatorial District will produce the Deputy Chairman, Vice Chairman, Assistant General Secretary, Treasurer, Organising Secretary, Public Relations Officer, Welfare Officer, Deputy Chief Whip and Ex-Officio III.
Members commended Adeleke Olabanjo (FCPA) for effectively coordinating the meeting, describing the proceedings as transparent, inclusive and well organised. They noted that every participant was given the opportunity to contribute, leading to productive deliberations and unanimous resolutions.
The forum also considered and accepted apologies from eight Coordinators who were unable to attend due to official assignments in their respective councils.
Speaking during the meeting, Isolo LCDA Coordinator, Olamide Taiwo, appreciated the forum for selecting Isolo LCDA as the host of the meeting. He also praised Adeleke Olabanjo for successfully coordinating the Council 57 leadership zoning process, describing it as peaceful, transparent and widely accepted by members.
Taiwo reaffirmed the commitment of Council 57 Coordinators to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat and Damilola Sonayon James ahead of the 2027 elections, urging members to remain united and continue working together in the interest of the forum and the APC.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Adeleke Olabanjo expressed gratitude to God for the peaceful and successful gathering, describing it as another milestone in strengthening unity within the Lagos State Supervisors Forum.
He said the meeting reflected the forum’s collective determination to consolidate its internal structure while intensifying grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Olabanjo called on all Coordinators to remain united, disciplined and committed to the ideals of the APC, stressing that the forum is prepared to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while working towards the emergence of Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat and Damilola Sonayon James as the party’s candidates in the Lagos governorship election.
He also appealed to members to embrace the newly approved zoning arrangement in the spirit of fairness, equity and inclusiveness, expressing confidence that sustained cooperation and grassroots engagement would further strengthen the forum and contribute to the continued success of the APC in Lagos State.
A total of 41 Coordinators attended the meeting, representing a strong level of participation from the forum’s 57 members.
The meeting ended with members reaffirming their commitment to the objectives of the Lagos State Supervisors Forum and pledging to strengthen unity, enhance internal cooperation and intensify grassroots mobilisation as preparations continue for the 2027 general elections.
