Lagostrend report that the National Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid an official visit to Lagos State, where she passionately called for increased women’s participation in politics, leadership, and governance across all levels of government.
Speaking during the visit, the National Woman Leader emphasized that women remain vital stakeholders in nation-building and should be given greater opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the country’s democratic development. She urged political parties, government institutions, and relevant stakeholders to create an enabling environment that encourages more women to contest elective positions and actively participate in decision-making processes.
She noted that empowering women politically is essential to achieving inclusive governance, sustainable development, and stronger democratic institutions. According to her, increasing female representation in leadership will promote balanced policymaking and ensure that the interests of women, children, and vulnerable groups are adequately represented.
The visit also provided an opportunity to engage with PDP women leaders, party executives, youth groups, and other stakeholders in Lagos State on strategies to strengthen the party, mobilize grassroots support, and enhance women’s involvement in political activities ahead of future elections.
Party members who attended the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to promoting gender inclusion and supporting initiatives aimed at empowering women within the PDP and the broader political landscape.
The official visit concluded with a renewed call for unity, active political participation, and collective efforts to build a stronger and more inclusive democratic system where women play leading roles in governance and national development.
