BREAKING: Eredo APC Members Petition State Leadership, Oppose Waliu Ismail’s Appointment as APC LGA Chairman

To: The State Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Dear Sir/Ma, PETITION AGAINST THE APPOINTMENT OF MR. WALIU ISMAIL AS APC LGA CHAIRMAN, EREDO LCDA We, the undersigned loyal members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eredo LCDA, write to formally register our strong objection to the appointment of Mr. Waliu Ismail as APC LGA Chairman in Eredo LCDA. While Mr. Waliu previously served as LGA Chairman for two consecutive terms under the party’s platform, it is a matter of record that he voluntarily resigned his membership and defected to the Labour Party. His defection was neither a consequence of injustice nor marginalization but a personal political decision. During his time outside the party, he aligned with opposition interests and did not contribute to the stability, growth or electoral strength of APC in Eredo LCDA. The APC has always prided itself on a structured reward system anchored on loyalty, sacrifice and consistency. Numerous members in Eredo LCDA remained steadfast during politically challenging periods, defended the party’s structure, mobilized grassroots support and ensured its continued dominance. Many of these individuals did so without appointments, patronage or recognition, purely out of commitment to the party’s ideals. To now elevate a former defector to a sensitive and strategic leadership position over long-standing loyal members is not only demoralizing but fundamentally inconsistent with the party’s principles of discipline and reward for loyalty. Such a decision risks sending a damaging message that defection carries no consequence and that steadfast commitment is secondary to political convenience. At this critical time, when party cohesion and grassroots confidence are essential for the current party e- membership registration process and future electoral consolidation, leadership decisions in the party must reinforce unity and not provoke disaffection. Failure to address this genuine concern by longstanding loyal members may deepen internal grievances and weaken the reconciliation architecture within the local structure. We firmly believe that a timely review and reversal of this appointment will restore confidence among party members, strengthen the party’s internal reconciliation mechanisms and reaffirm APC’s commitment to fairness, loyalty and organizational discipline. Affirmative action on this petition will also serve as a powerful statement that the party values those who stood firm when it mattered most. We respectfully urge the State Executive Committee to intervene decisively in the interest of justice, unity and the long-term stability of APC in Eredo LCDA.
