Lagostrend report that the Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), on Thursday, 5th February, 2026, joined eminent leaders, respected elders and stakeholders across the Epe Division as Epe Club hosted the prestigious “Celebration of an Icon” in honour of Alhaji (Chief) Shakiru Seriki Akanni Bamu-GCEG.
The colourful and well-attended event was more than a ceremonial gathering; it was a deeply touching moment of reflection, gratitude and celebration of a life distinguished by selfless service, uncommon sacrifice and enduring impact on the community and humanity at large.

Speaking with lagostrend at the occasion, Engr. Kasali expressed his delight and pride in being part of the historic celebration, describing Alhaji Bamu-GCEG as a towering figure whose life remains a source of inspiration to both the older and younger generations. He commended Epe Club for choosing to honour an icon while he is alive, noting that such recognition encourages a culture of excellence, service and legacy building.

According to the Lekki LCDA Chairman, celebrating men of honour who have devoted their lives to community development reinforces shared values of unity, leadership and compassion, which are essential for sustainable growth across Lagos State and beyond.
The event, which attracted dignitaries from different walks of life, further reaffirmed the strong bond between leadership, tradition and community development, as tributes poured in to celebrate Alhaji (Chief) Shakiru Seriki Akanni Bamu-GCEG—a true icon whose legacy continues to shine brightly.
