The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Jarrett Tenebe, has expressed concern over the treatment of Edo State delegates during the party’s recent National Convention, despite the state’s strong commitment to the party’s success.
Speaking after the convention, Tenebe revealed that Edo delegates, who had earlier pledged to deliver an impressive 3.5 million votes in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were allegedly sidelined and not accorded the level of recognition and respect they deserved at the event.
According to him, the delegates were positioned at the back of the venue and experienced what he described as unfavourable conditions throughout the proceedings. He noted that such treatment was discouraging, especially given the loyalty and dedication demonstrated by party members from Edo State.
Tenebe emphasized the need for unity, fairness, and inclusiveness within the party, urging the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to ensure that all stakeholders are treated equitably, regardless of their state or status.
He further called for reflection and improvement in future party gatherings, stressing that recognition of members’ contributions is vital for sustaining morale and strengthening the party’s grassroots support base.
Despite the concerns raised, the Edo APC Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of party members in the state to the growth and success of the APC, expressing hope that the issues highlighted would be addressed promptly to foster stronger unity ahead of future political engagements.
