Hon. Adetokunbo Philip Wahab’s Team Visits Army Children High School, Epe, Endorses Renovation of School Buildings

Lagostrend report that Army Children High School, Epe, recorded a major milestone in its ongoing drive for infrastructural development as the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Hon. Tokunbo Philip Wahab, was ably represented by Mrs. Yetunde, an alumna of the school, during an inspection visit to assess critical infrastructure needs and proposed intervention projects within the institution.

The visit, which took place on Wednesday, brought together government representatives, school administrators, alumni, and members of the school’s Executive Committee (EXCO) to evaluate facilities and identify priority areas requiring urgent attention.

During the inspection, the delegation was taken around the school premises and provided with detailed information on the proposed projects that had earlier been submitted through the school’s capital project list prepared by the EXCO.

Among the EXCO members and stakeholders present to receive the team were Alhaji Uthman Kayode Mustapha, Mrs. Adelakun Olamiji Ottun, Mr. Egbekun Sunday, Mr. Abdullahi Tanimowo, and Comrade Onyeme Chinedu Godspower, Chief Executive Officer of Lagostrend Media, alongside other distinguished alumni and stakeholders.

Also present during the visit were the Senior School Principal, the Junior School Principal, and members of the teaching staff, who joined the inspection tour and provided valuable insights into the challenges facing the school.

Following a thorough assessment of the facilities, the inspection team agreed on the renovation of two Ambadon Buildings—one designated for the Senior School and the other for the Junior School. The proposed renovation is expected to significantly improve the learning environment and provide students with more conducive classrooms for academic activities.

The team also observed several pressing challenges affecting students and teachers. Among the issues identified was the shortage of classroom furniture, with many students lacking adequate chairs and desks. In addition, a number of classrooms were found to have leaking roofs, creating discomfort for students during the rainy season and highlighting the need for urgent repairs.

Speaking after the inspection, stakeholders expressed appreciation to Hon. Tokunbo Philip Wahab for his commitment to educational development and for ensuring that the needs of Army Children High School, Epe, are receiving attention. They also commended Mrs. Yetunde and her team for their professionalism and dedication throughout the inspection exercise.

The outcome of the visit has been widely welcomed by the school community, with many expressing optimism that the planned renovations and interventions will enhance teaching and learning conditions, improve student welfare, and preserve the school’s legacy of excellence.

The inspection further demonstrated the power of collaboration between government agencies, school management, alumni associations, and community stakeholders in addressing educational infrastructure needs and creating a better future for students.
