In a major boost to public health and social inclusion, over 1.4 million Nigerians have benefited from free reading glasses provided under the Jigi Bola 2.0 Presidential Scheme, according to the Honourable Minister overseeing the programme.

The initiative, which has reached beneficiaries across 16 states of the federation, is designed to improve access to basic vision care, particularly for low-income earners, artisans, traders, and elderly citizens who rely on clear sight for their daily livelihoods.

Speaking on the impact of the programme, the Minister described Jigi Bola 2.0 as a practical demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of Nigerians through targeted, people-centred interventions. He noted that many beneficiaries who had long struggled with impaired vision can now read, work, and carry out routine tasks more effectively.

The scheme goes beyond distribution, incorporating eye screening and professional support to ensure that recipients receive appropriate reading glasses suited to their needs.
