The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that the outcome of the just-concluded election in the nation’s capital has unmasked what he described as the “politics of deception” often displayed by some political actors.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Minister said the election results clearly demonstrated that residents of the FCT are discerning and no longer swayed by symbolic gestures designed to mislead the electorate.
Wike noted that certain politicians who engage in public displays such as buying corn and groundnuts from roadside traders during campaigns, as a strategy to appear relatable, have now been exposed by the people’s verdict at the polls.
According to him, the electorate in Abuja have shown political maturity by rejecting superficial campaign tactics and instead supporting leadership anchored on visible performance, credible governance, and tangible development.
The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to consolidating infrastructural renewal, improved service delivery, and inclusive governance across the Federal Capital Territory. He emphasized that the FCT Administration under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda remains focused on delivering measurable progress rather than theatrical politics.
Wike further commended residents of the FCT for participating peacefully in the electoral process and for demonstrating faith in democratic institutions. He assured that the Administration would continue to prioritize people-oriented policies that uplift communities and strengthen public trust.
The FCT Minister’s remarks underscore a broader call for issue-based politics and responsible leadership, reinforcing Abuja’s position as a model of democratic advancement and accountable governance in Nigeria.
